UK Approach to Culture Negative Endocarditis Treatment Guidelines, Empiric Therapy and Exam Tips
Culture-negative infective endocarditis is not a single diagnosis. In UK practice, it is a problem to solve: prior antibiotics, fastidious bacteria, intracellular zoonoses, fungi, prosthetic material, poor sampling, or a non-infective mimic. The treatment is judged by the clinical tempo, valve type, epidemiology, imaging, and microbiological probability.
